| A powerful 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan in the middle of the night – while families were asleep in their homes. At least 600 people have died and more than 3,000 have been injured, including many children. The true scale of devastation is still emerging, with aftershocks continuing to cause fear and destruction.
Roads are blocked by fallen rocks, cutting off villages and slowing rescue efforts. Around 3,000 families – including an estimated 15,000 children – have been impacted. Many children are now left terrified, vulnerable, and without shelter.
Save the Children teams are already on the ground in both the Nangarhar and Kunar provinces deploying mobile health units to provide emergency care. We have prepositioned hygiene kits, tarpaulins, shelter repair kits, and education kits ready to be distributed – but we urgently need your support to reach more children and families in need.
